It is important that you factor into your dress budget the cost of alterations .Unless you are 5ft 10 inches or taller it is very likely that you will at least need your dress to be shortened unless you have ordered a Made to To Measure dress.
Typically the cost to shorten a wedding dress is about £120 upwards depending on the style and fabric of your wedding dress.If your gown has a lace trim at the hem or is a princess style gown with multiple layers then the cost will normally be about £150.
Taking in or letting out a wedding dress is normally about £40 to £80 but again will depend on your dress style and fabric.
Most seamstresses are happy to give you a quote for alterations but would probably need to see your wedding dress to assess the work required.
It is important to have your alterations done by some one who is experienced in wedding dress alterations as most wedding dresses have quite complicated construction and require a very skilled seamstress.
