Do wedding dress sizes differ from high street sizes-are they smaller than normal??

As a general rule most wedding dresses are cut smaller than high street clothing-the designers and manufacturers tend to work from different size charts than everyday clothes. The size charts they use are based on body shapes from decades ago -women's body shapes have evolved but unfortunately the size charts they use haven't changed for decades

With our designers we normally find that most brides will need one or two sizes bigger than the size they normally wear in high street clothing

Another thing to bear in mind is that wedding gowns don't stretch (unlike leggings or t-shirts) and their construction is generally more rigid,

.Brides are often horrified to hear what size they need but it's only a number and hopefully you won't be walking down the aisle with the size tag hanging out!! The most important thing is to be comfortable in your wedding gown -its a long day and you need to be able to breathe!!

Our designers generally offer a size range from UK6 to UK 32 but other sizes can be accomodated with a gown that is made to measure. There is an extra charge for this service-typically between £100 and £150 for a full made to measure wedding dress.
